The woman in Mauritania, to the contrary of what one can imagine from a first quick glance at this society, belongs to the most liberate women in the Arab world, and most included in active life, with regard to the conservative and traditional nature of this society. She has always practised all activities in complete liberty free of any social pressure and any marginalization attempts that she had faced in a precise period. This liberty will can be evaluated by any one who has experienced this traditional society in which she has lived, this society which has a temper weathercock and a special gestation, can be evaluated by anyone who has seen how far are the influence and the authority of this society. In addition, the social authority constituted always a study subject for many sociologists. In a hard situation like this the Mauritanian woman could come out of the tent in giving her dreams and her anxiety toward liberty the space with an effective participation, she has studied and occupied the high political, economic, and social positions in letting away all the dispirited attempts to fetter her or dictate on her. For example, the Mauritanian woman represents every thing in the house, and at work she is looked (considered?) as that important and efficacy element which cannot be neglected, such things that she has merited by her competencies and her capacities. This woman deserves really the recognition for this iron will, which permit her to come over all those obstacles that she has faced. By a simple look at this society, you can clearly remark the strong and influential women presence in the development scene with all its branches. Real presence not as what we can see in other places and countries that use this presence to make their ugly democracy and rights, face (look?) beautiful and bring the woman just as a decor and a cosmetic.
The Mauritanian woman is distinguishable by that strong presence which plays the main role in painting her shining path, all this does not mean in anyway that the Mauritanian woman has got all her rights despite her will of liberty. Like other women in the Arab world she still faces some problems and challenges on different levels. On the social level, for example some women are still victims of some social traditional indecent practices bereft of the simplest and most prevalent rights: the rights of choice with all its sorts even the choice of a husband. There are still a number of Mauritanian girls marry through some deals which concluded away from them. Moreover, there are others in some places who have no opportunity to study; to express and denied some main rights. Women live behind the sun of democracy and rights in some places far away stroked by the hand of ignorance, savagery, and privation.
Here is the source of the apprehension, what seems to be a contradiction is just a face of the worrying faces of reality in the case. Between this who reaches her goals in challenging all difficulties and proving the woman’s capacities and great energies, between this who become a presidential candidate and that who suffers of the inequality, and privation. In getting married with impel early before being of age and. that whom beaten, kept under duress by their families and their occupiers, and bereaved of the transport and education with some other principal rights. Between these two women, here is a lost link indicates a disruption in the state and makes it appear as a real sick case.
The first responsible is the civil society and the Mauritanian activists in the field of human rights who have neglected the regions where those suffering women are found, the regions which are supposed to be their first place of intervention, -and urgent intervention! We are not any more prepared to see another girl or woman lose one of her principal rights wherever she may be, near or far away.
The Mauritanian woman like the Mauritanian in general has experienced the desert with its largeness and the ocean with its infinity. She is not able to live with funnel and privation. She wants just to live freely as her grandfathers have done in this desert, and her looks have done in this ocean.
we have to take them out of this sufferance they live in this hard situation, and help this woman who has this strong liberty will, which reduce for her the way, a long way has taken too much time and strong efforts from others in other places. This liberty will, which builds a freedom space for her, permits her to create and to honor the name of this country, wherever she goes or stays.
